Jack’s grace wasn’t completely gone; Cas said it would eventually “grow back.”  Plus, he has “Gabriel’s” grace.  So he’s human enough to go to heaven, but he’s still got angelic grace, too.

If Cas’ grace is completely gone, and he has a human soul, the Empty has no hold on him but the promise.  But CAN a human be taken to the Empty? 

We’d better hope the fuck NOT.

Billie’s threat throughout s11 was that she would throw Sam and Dean into the empty if they were to die again, so I don’t think it’s impossible for a purely human soul to go there.

Soooo the empty could of yanked him out of the bunker kitchen in that last minute of the episode… so it MUST BE SOMETHING ELSE that tops out Castiel’s happy meter!!!!

He even got redemption from Naomi, and direct credit for saving Heaven, which had always been his other main barrier to happiness… hmmmm what does that leave…

the empty coming for cas to drag him away into the nothing when he’s at his happiest…a literal metaphor for his depression, the way it just creeps in and takes you over when you allow yourself to be happy. I feel like I’ve been sucker-punched.

the best way to fight depression is not to hide it from your loved ones in order to try and “protect” them… they’ll see you suffering and will only suffer with you. They way through is by asking for help and being honest about it.
