• Ugh, we open on Nick. He seems highlighted in a church-like space, which is also pretty darn reminiscent of Lucifer
• Meanwhile, Cas tries to heal Jack and it’s…not going great
• Dean’s frantic (shouty) care for Jack in the hospital hurts us. (Of
  course, we love it)
• Are they gonna bust Jack out of the hospital Weekend at Bernie’s style? Also, Sam
  already called Rowena about Jack. SAMWITCH RISES
• Whoa, Cas gives Jack his trenchcoat – hello, symbolism? (He later says he would give Jack his grace. Caaaas!)
• Aw, Jack tells Rowena that the boys have been saying nice things
  about her…Rowena is powerless to resist people thinking she’s a
  better person
• So Jack’s body is destabilizing without his grace and they need an
  archangel. And…Dean zones out? Is Michael using him like a radio?
  Like a baby monitor, maybe.
• Jack packs a bag for Vegas – he wants a chance to live his life
  like a normal person before he dies
• Dean and Jack head out on their road trip of fun. Dean’s teaching
  Jack how to drive and HELP US WE WON’T SURVIVE THESE EMOTIONS
• Cas heads off to find Ketch’s shaman but before he goes, Sam and Cas share a moment to talk about how hard it is to lose a son
  – and acknowledge how all of them feel that pain closing in. That was a really lovely moment
• Nick finds the beat cop on duty the night his family was murdered.
  Ugh. More murder? Is this the murderer? I’m so tired of the Nick
  story
• Dean and Jack are fishing together? HELP US WE ARE DEAD
• Jack tells Dean that when he dies he would miss hanging out with
  Dean
• Cas meets up with Sergei the shaman and immediately gets surrounded
  by holy fire. Thanks, friend
• Sergei says Jack can be rebooted…and whips out some archangel grace
  from Gabriel. Sergei hands it over – but now the Winchesters owe
  him a favor later. Pretty good bargain tbh. I look forward to seeing the Sergei comic romp in the second half of the season
• Nick uncovers that the beat cop murdered his family and was possessed
  at the time. (Okay, I’m moving to my second theory of Lucifer or his
  agents priming these Lucifer vessels for sorrow so they’ll say yes. Lucifer did prey on grief.)
• Jack takes on Gabriel’s grace and it feels like a trap but…I just
  don’t know. It’s been such a quiet episode
• UGH oh no Nick is praying to Lucifer in the Empty? Not fucking cool,
  show. EXTREME SCOWL. I guess this makes the Nick storyline make more
  sense now
• Meanwhile TFW is on a death watch. Bummertown
• All in all, for a Buckleming episode it was remarkably streamlined with only two major plot threads.
  But it kinda feels like a middle puzzle piece, you know? We’re
  getting an elbow but we don’t have the rest of the arm yet
• So Boris has this theory that the show’s endgame is “always going to end in Detroit” and every year I’m like NO YOU’RE FULL OF IT. But this episode, guys. This episode…. Maybe it IS all going to end in Detroit, with Lucifer.
