People with blogs like mine are probably the ones, among the fandom blogs I mean, that are probably in the biggest pinch because you can’t just pick meta posts and discussions and repost them on a different platform like fanart. My stuff is not individual files I have saved on my laptop. I have texts posts that contain links to other posts, that contain pictures. I see fanartist saying they’ll be putting their things on twitter. I can’t. What makes my blog is the community that operates on tumblr around it. I am not interested in writing things for the sake of it either, I am only interested in the community around my blog and the interaction my posts get. And I can’t expect to just snap my fingers and migrate a 64k+ post blog on pillowfort or some other platform, not without pouring an amount of time and energy that I don’t have. I produce content on this site almost daily in addition to reblogging content. I am in a bad mood.
it’s true. The meta community doesn’t post in a vacuum. We talk to each other, expand on each other’s thoughts, and create long conversations across many blogs that can’t just easily be transported to another platform. I feel like I’ve invested the last six years of my life into these conversations, and it will be a loss not only for us as fans, but as a record of a ridiculous amount of history.
We’ve lost individual blogs in the past, lost important discussions, but there is just so much here to lose now it’s a bit overwhelming.
