Posting for Holiday Mixtape starts today and runs throughout December!
All works submitted this round will be tagged for ships (main, side, pre-relationship, and implied). We will do our best to make sure they are tagged with the most common ship name on tumblr so followers can filter as needed.
We’ve heard from over 45 people who plan to share their work with you this month, and the first will be posting shortly. Sign-ups will stay open, so if you want to join the fun, please do. Full into is on our blog (if you are using the app, you might need to use a browser in order to access the links).
Lucifer’s situation is different from Cas’s though. Cas was a mostly-fallen angel who– for all intents and purposes– was that body. That was him, and not a vessel he was occupying. Therefore in the empty he woke up with that body.
Nick survived (somehow) Lucifer’s death. Lucifer didn’t go to the empty with a human body attached. He is still potentially magically bound to Nick’s body– potentially via Jack’s grace, potentially via whatever spells Crowley trapped Lucifer in Nick’s body with. But that body didn’t go with him to the empty, because it survived his death.
Hi there! I honestly hope it’s not Lucifer, so I’m perfectly content to entertain this speculation. I don’t know how likely it is, or if this sort of speculation is just setting folks up for bitter disappointment, but it’s still interesting.
It’s creepy how this being awoke in the empty more like the Empty Entity itself did, building itself T2 style out of goo, rather than the way Cas just sorta woke up all dressed and ready to go on a shiny black floor. I don’t know what that says about the creature in question, and I’m perfectly willing to wait for the show to please explain. 😛
I don’t think it would make much sense to have Nick wake up someone else who happens to have Lucifer’s red eyes. He addresses Lucifer and the red glowing eyes are Lucifer’s thing. The visual language of the show for several seasons has made the red glowing eyes Lucifer’s specific trait, especially in contrast with Jack’s own golden eyes, which the latest episode also features.
I think that Cas is simply more human than Lucifer. Cas has a body, which is modeled after Jimmy Novak’s but is effectively his own body now. Cas is a body in addition to his grace and arguably some kind of human-like soul-like thing. Lucifer doesn’t have that. Lucifer does not have a body. Lucifer is also an older and definitely more damaged creature than Cas. I don’t think it’d be outlandish to show that he’s more… empty, you know? More nothingness than Cas is. Cas is a full being. He is a full person. Lucifer isn’t.
It’s possible that Lucifer needs to shape himself from the Empty in order to really exist again, while Cas’ situation was more similar to the situation of a human soul after death. (It is possible for a human soul to go to the Empty, if there’s substance to Billie’s threats in season 11).
Then again, we don’t really know much about how the Empty works after all.
true, but then if Lucifer just doesn’t have a normal human body, why look like a normal human skeleton shape? Heck, there’s still the nonsense Crowley did to him to lock him into Nick’s vessel, and we still don’t know if that’s a factor connecting Lucifer back to Nick now, as well.
Fair warning, Jensen and Misha are fucking adorbs.
Carry on.
Nice video cover. Someone at TV Guide ships Cockles.
I love it. Everyone else does a solo interview, but Misha and Jensen do one together. Yup, someone at TV guide ships Cockles. That, or Misha and Jensen are just naturally attached at the hip. 😛
@bluestar86 It was Jensen’s idea. He played the game once and then played it again with misha just cause he wanted to, as far as I can tell
Nick talks about his feelings, blah blah blah. Ohh but being evil feels good, poor me. Oh and he killed a priest, because he’s a f*cking gremlin.
Cas is back! He tries to heal Jack who is in bed and sickly. Wait, when did Cas appear? It wasn’t in the last episode was it? No entrance?…Okay then. It didn’t work, Jack coughs up blood.
Dean is pacing and impatient while he and Sam wait. He seems to be thinking of Jack as a normal child. ‘Weird things happen to kids all the time, coughs, bloody noses’. Sam accepts it may be more complicated.
Jack just like collapsed off the bed while Cas was telling the bros about the non-healing. He can’t breathe, the babe is dying!
Team Free Dads rush baby to hospital, but he’s not actually a legally registered person. The Dads are very frustrated by the bureaucracy. Jack collapses again. Ends up on a stretcher rushed to a room.
The Dads are softly ejected from that room and watch the scene through glass. They’re so helpless right now, they can’t do anything. This isn’t like fighting evil demons, you can’t fight Jack’s illness out of him.
Cut to Nick, still being a douche. He’s basically on a revenge kick, but of course no one empathises with that revenge kick because he’s evil.
Doctor Lady just told the Dads that Jack’s body is shutting down. They are devastated. I haven’t seen Dean this sad since that thing happened to his sandwich. Speaking of Samwitches, Sam called in Rowena for help.
Awww Cas just put his trenchcoat on Jack. Regular viewers will likely understand the metaphor that the trenchcoat is Castiel’s angel!grace, and angel identity. And he just gave his angelness on over to Jack. *Stares directly into the camera* Y’all know what that means right? He is willing to give up his grace for Jack.
Rowena is here and she is anti saving Jack, because you know Jack is Lucifers son and Lucifer burned Rowena alive (burn the witch, real original by the way, pfft).
Jack is making his case to Rowena and Rowena is doing this face:
Okay Rowena has officially adopted Jack now too. Good, good. Sidenote. I love Rowena. Kay, Rowena tells us Jack needs grace. Cas offers his, because he is the sweetest being that ever bee’d. Just like we said, see above trenchcoat mention. Nay though. Jack need archangel grace.
Okay Dean has the dizzies.
Nick is feeling all murder-y…again.
Jack wants to go live his life before he dies. Rowena and Sam are calling people for help. Castiel researches, Dean agrees with Jack then gets the dizzies. Dean takes their baby (Jack) out, and lets his baby drive his other baby (the impala).
‘It’s like I’m you’ – Jack
‘No, it’s not’ – Dean
He totally is like you Dean, because JACK IS NOT LOOKING AT THE ROAD. Very good driving skills for a first time go. NO BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL YOU LITTLE LEMMING. DEAN DON’T ENCOURAGE THAT. EVERYBODY GET OFF THE ROADS!! This is all very cute. Dangerous and irresponsible, but Jack is dying and Dean never stays dead. So if they crash no big deal. Unless they hit other peeps.
Cas and Sam talk about how hard it is losing their son. This is so sad, Alexa play ‘Love Don’t Die’.
Dean and Jack go fishing. Jack chose it because Dean’s favourite memory of his father, is going fishing. Jack doesn’t want to die, because it’s less time with the people he loves. Ahhh Dean, look, talking about feelings. Look how easy Jack is with vocal affection.
Cas is on a date with a Shaman dude. To see if Shaman can help save Jack. For like the fifth time in the episode Cas expresses how he does not like Ketch. Same. Love the actor, but not the character.
The shaman has Gabriel grace. I swear Gabriel is everywhere. One of these days Sam will walk into the kitchen and Gabriel will just be sat there watching cartoons on Sam’s laptop.
Update. Nick is still being an uber douche. Everyone contain your shock.
We’re all very surprised. OhmyGod? Nick is evil who would have thought it. Bleh, bleh, bleh. Anyway he found out the cop who murdered his family was possessed but he’s still taking it out on the cop. Sooo edgy. Ugh.
Jack inhales Gabriel’s grace while Rowena chants the spell.
Jack is better and Cas is smiling. Cas is smiling, this only happens once in a blue moon kiddos, Cas never gets to smile.
Nope, Jack fell over. Still dying.
Shaman admits over the phone to Cas that it was all just an experiment and he won’t help anymore. Cas is so mad I think he may eat the Shaman’s liver later.
Nick cries out for Lucifer to come back to him, Lucifer’s skeleton emerges from The Empty Goo like a goddamn terminator reject. Whatever Nick you trash monkey.
Update. Jack is still dying.
Nooooooooo
I love you Sooty.
Summary of this episode: Nick is a douche and Jack is still dying. No change then 😂
jack is dean. obviously jack is dean. all three of jack’s dads have had moments in which their clocks were ticking down (sam’s trials, cas’s grace consumption) but only for dean has it seemed so terribly inevitable as it does now for jack, only dean never had any hope, any reprieve. dean knows what it’s like to resign yourself to having only the next few weeks, the next few days, the next year. dean understands wanting to do vegas in style before you shuffle off this mortal coil. it has to be dean on the road trip with jack. who else could it ever be?
but when dean looks at jack, you know he sees sam. another child who was his responsibility, who he parented to adulthood (or the nephilim facsimile). why did he even make the deal that limited his time in the first place? to save sam. now, what will he do–older and wiser, knowing that sacrifices don’t help anyone except yourself–to save jack? it has to be dean on the road trip with jack. who else could it be? who else has lost a son?
(does it help that jack explicitly compares him to john? no. no it does not)
